Fenway Park hosts its first baseball game.

April 9, 1912

Boston Red Sox beat Harvard 2-0 in an exhibition game before 3,000 fans in the new stadium. Harvard sophomore third baseman Dana Joseph Paine Wingate is the first batter in the game and strikes out against Red Sox rookie pitcher Casey Hageman. The park officially opens 11 days later.*
